It’s Not Movin’ Any Time Soon – As much as Anaheim and Los Angeles are dying to host it, the mayor of San Diego officially announced that his city is keeping Comic-Con through 2018.
Bill Murray is Classic – Appearing for the first time at Comic-Con to promote his upcoming dramedy “Rock the Kasbah”, the Oscar spent much of his time praising Miley Cyrus, who sings on his upcoming Netflix Christmas Special. The entire second half of that sentence is very weird.
You Can’t Disappoint the Fans – CC marked the first public appearances of Ben Affleck – following the announcement of his split with wife Jennifer Garner, and Harrison Ford – since his plane crash in March. After making his way to his seat, Ford addressed his injuries by saying “I feel good…I just walked here.”
If It Weren’t For the Movies… – TV, music, video games and even comic book news all take a backseat to the motion picture studio presentations. Newly released footage from “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, as well as surprise celebrity appearances, dominated headlines and social media.
To Be There or Not to Be There? – I’m sure attending Comic-Con is nothing short of incredible. And I hope to pull it off one of these years. Getting to see Hollywood’s biggest stars, exclusive clips and trailers from upcoming movies, interacting with the masses, many who have camped-out for days to attend events, and picking-up cool merchandise.
But, thanks to the internet, and because every major entertainment outlet now covers what, not long ago, was considered a “nerdfest”, practically everything newsworthy thing that happens ends-up (very quickly) online. This year’s best example is the “BVS” trailer. So, if you didn’t snag a ticket in time or don’t ever think you’ll ever be able to make it in person, now, more than ever, you can still experience and enjoy Comic-Con without actually attending Comic-Con. But it’s gotta be more fun to be there.
