Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline team-up for the FOURTH time in the new romance dramedy “The Good House”, in theaters September 30th. They previously co-starred in live-action films “Dave” and “The Ice Storm” and the animated “The Tale of Despereaux”.
Academy Award-winning Kline, best known for “A Fish Called Wanda” and “Sophie’s Choice”, most recently co-starred with Melissa McCarthy in “The Starling” and lent his voice to “The Bob’s Burgers Movie”. (He’s also been on 35 episodes of the FOX animated series.) Other Kline hits include “The Big Chill”, “Soapdish”, “Chaplin”, “In & Out”, Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and DreamWorks “The Road to El Dorado”.
Let’s also not leave out “Wild Wild West”, “De-Lovely”, “The Pink Panther”, ensemble comedy “Last Vegas” and “Ricki and the Flash” (reuniting with “Sophie’s Choice” star Meryl Streep). And he played Maurice in the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” that I’d still like to forget exists.
Weaver is a three-time Oscar nominee for her performances in popular ‘80s movies “Aliens”, “Working Girl” and “Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey”. She also headlined three other “Alien” installments, the first two “Ghostbusters” films (along with appearances in the 2016 reboot and 2021 “Afterlife”) and the cult classic comedy “Galaxy Quest”.
Some of the first Weaver films I saw were the 2003 Disney movie “Holes” and the best movie of 2008, “Be Kind Rewind”. That year, in addition to “Despereaux”, she had a key voice role in Pixar’s “WALL-E”. Eight years later she ended-up voicing herself for the studio’s “Finding Dory”.
Recently Weaver has delivered two nomination worthy performances, in underrated dramas “A Monster Calls” and “My Salinger Year”. Highly recommend them both. Later in 2022, following the release of “The Good House”, she’ll be seen opposite Elizabeth Banks in “Call Jane” and reuniting with James Cameron — 13 years after the game-changing “Avatar” for sequel “The Way of Water”.
