Warner Brothers has announced that because of the success of the three CGI Wile. E. Coyote and Road Runner “Looney Tunes” shorts that were shown before “Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore”, “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” and “Yogi Bear” last year, three more shorts will be shown before three upcoming WB family films. The difference is that more characters will be included this time – something I’m very happy about.
And some of the original voices will be used for the characters, including the legendary Mel Blanc. That will make parents who take their kids to these movies very happy.
The first short – “Daffy’s Rhapsody” will feature Daffy Duck being chased by Elmer Fudd on a stage during a musical performance. This will premiere before “Happy Feet Two”, which opens November 18th. The second (I’m guessing) will be before “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” (the sequel to 2008’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth”) on January 27th, 2012. But what about #3? WB doesn’t have another family film on their schedule until “Yogi Bear 2” in 2013. The smart move would be to show the first short before “Dolphin Tale” on September 23rd, then #2 before “H.F.2”, and #3 before “Journey 2”.
UPDATE:
According to EW.com, the second short will be “I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat”. This short stars Tweety Bird and Sylvester the Cat. Sylvester is trying to catch Tweety in Granny’s apartment. The third short will be yet another Wile. E. Coyote and Road Runner short. Really? Why not Bugs Bunny?
