Here are three TV shows I’m currently addicted to:
“AMERICA SAYS”
It’s the new GSN game show that’s sorta like “Family Feud” but is its own animal. John Michael Higgins, from “Best in Show”, “Pitch Perfect” and the recent NBC comedy series “Great News”, is master of ceremonies as two teams face-off in a fill in the blanks guessing game. The winning team gets a chance to pocket $15,000. You quickly find yourself shouting answers at the screen and being surprised by the ones you didn’t get. And for once, the host and the contestants don’t overshadow the most important element: the game itself.
“LIVE PD”
A&E’s “Cops” for a new generation is the most popular cable show on Friday and Saturday nights. And it always, without question, trends high on Twitter. Host Dan Abrams, the legal analyst for ABC’s “Good Morning America”, is in command of this unpredictable ship. His controlled demeanor and dry humor are simply fantastic. Co-analysts Tom Morris, Jr. and Sean “Sticks” Larkin join Abrams. This is a trio of guys you’d want to hang out with on Friday and Saturday nights, especially while watching Americans get crazy in front of police officers…on live TV.
“PENN AND TELLER: FOOL US”
Some people turn to overly-dramatic romances on Monday nights. Others choose to partake in the art of magic. The iconic Las Vegas duo of Penn and Teller showcase talented magicians, illusionists and more from around the globe each week on their one-hour CW program. The show is hosted by “How I Met Your Mother”’s Alyson Hannigan. Once the guests perform their acts, P&T must try to figure out how the tricks were done. Then Penn explains their findings in code to the magicians, so he doesn’t give away their secrets to the world. This can make “Fool Us” a bit frustrating at times. But, overall, the show is wholeheartedly appealing and highly entertaining.
