Happy Halloween to all!
Saturday night, NBC aired two DreamWorks animated Halloween specials. First was the new “Scared Shrekless”, which featured the whole gang, and a few surprises. There’s some nice tributes to the original “Shrek”, and it’s overall very entertaining. Following that was last year’s “Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space”, which has become a Halloween tradition.
And speaking of traditions, on Thursday, ABC aired “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, and the timely “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown”. Now if you didn’t have the chance to catch these specials, but you still want to get in on the Halloween fun, watch “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” with your family today. It’s a classic, and a better choice than all the horror films on DVD and in theaters, including the two films battling for the top spot at the box office, “Saw 3D” (the 7th and final “Saw”) vs. last week’s #1, “Paranormal Activity 2”. My money’s on “Saw 3D” with a little under $30M.
Here’s a look at past Halloween Weekend Box Office #1’s:
2009 – “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” $23.2M
2008 – “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” $15.3
2007 – “Saw IV” $31.8
2006 – “Saw III” $33.6
2005 – “Saw II” $31.7
