The other night I had the chance to see an independent film called, “The Flyboys”, and it’s pretty good. The story is about two boys named Jason and Kyle, who accidently get stuck on an airplane that gunmen are trying to blow up. The two boys stop that from happening, the bad guys find out and then go after the boys.
The story is exciting, and the performances are excellent. Veteran actors Stephen Baldwin and Tom Sizemore are in the film, and Jesse James and Reiley McClendon are great as the kids. There’s one amazing sequence towards the end where Jason, Kyle, and Jason’s uncle Ed have fallen/jumped out of an airplane and are heading to the ground. It’s very realistic. In fact you’ll be wowed by it. The directing, overall, is solid.
“The Flyboys” is rated PG-13 for violence and some language and isn’t appropriate for young children. If you have a chance, check out “The Flyboys”. It’s been a big hit on the film festival circuit and the producers are planning to release it nationally later this year. Let’s hope they can, because it deserves a large audience.
