It’s not every day that the #1 animated movie of all-time comes out on DVD, so the release of “Toy Story 3” is a HUGE deal. It’s my favorite movie of the year (see my review below) and is a definite contender for the Best Picture Oscar. However, there’s another DVD out this week that has me just as excited, and most of it has never made it to the big screen.
If you’re a fan of this website you know I am a HUGE “Cars” guy. I’m one of the few critics who think “Cars” is one of Disney/Pixar’s best movies. The studios have done a great job keeping fans of Mater and Lightning McQueen happy while they’ve been working on “Cars 2” with their “Mater’s Tall Tales” series on TV. Now, for the first time, all the tales are out on DVD.
The disk includes two new shorts: Moon Mater and Mater Private Eye, along with the other seven that have aired on TV and on-line, plus a ton of bonus features such as unmade tales and all-new Mater intros.
If you’ve never seen the “Tall Tales” on The Disney Channel you are in for a treat. They’re filled with same hilarious dialogue and great animation from the movies, and Larry The Cable Guy and Owen Wilson do the voices.
So, if you’re heading out to pick-up the DVD/Blu-ray of “Toy Story 3”, do yourself a favor a grab a copy of “Mater’s Tall Tales”. After you watch the first one I guarentee you’ll be saying: “I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there.”
