WARNING: This is the angriest I’ve ever been when writing a blog on this website.
“Reelz Channel”, until now my favorite channel on TV, had made a very bad move by cancelling it’s signature show – “Dailies”. The move was apparently made to save money and is part of many big changes with the channel, including moving their entire operation from L.A. to Albuequerque, New Mexico.
40 people have been layed-off and they recently held a job fair in Albuequerque to hire new people. Reports say the company will save $20-million a year because of the move from L.A. to N.M. But problem is – you can’t cover everything going on in the movie business from New Mexico! And “Dailies” was the only show on TV that had all the information on the latest films and all the best interviews. I LOVED “Dailies.” I’d watch it every night, at either 6 or 8 PM, occassionally at 7AM the next day and on the weekends.
Replacing “Dailies” is the “Reelz Channel Movie News”, a 3 minute segment at the end of each hour. 3 minutes, that’s it! Ridiculous.
The people in charge at Reelz have made a very bad decision. Maybe, when they get settled in their new home they will realize their mistake and put “Dailies” back on the air. They could do some of the show from their new headquarters and still have coorespondents in L.A., N.Y.C. and the other hot movie spots around the world.
There is no other show of it’s kind and it was the #1 reason to watch “Reelz Channel”. Hopefully it will be back, soon.
