“Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil” is the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2005 animated hit, “Hoodwinked”, which is a very funny film and also happens to be the first movie I ever reviewed. If you are a follower of this website and my blogs you know that “Hoodwinked Too!” has had a very difficult time getting making it to theaters.
The movie was originally schedule to be released on January 15, 2010. I, along with millions of other fans, couldn’t wait to see Red, The Wolf, and all the other great characters again. Word leaked-out that this time the story would center around Hansel and Gretel, and with the same writing team as the original it was going to be fantastic. A few months before the release date I got an e-mail from a follower wondering when we were going to see a trailer. Then, a few days later, it was announced that the movies date was being moved to February. Then the date became TBD (to be determined).
And then things got even crazier. Burger King, the fast food corporate sponsor for the movie, decided to give away their “Hoodwinked Too!” toys last January, even though the movie wasn’t coming out. Of course I got all six, but that only got fans of the film even more excited. I began to think that the movie would probably end up going straight to DVD, or maybe this would be one of those weird cases when a movie simply never gets released at all, especially when word came out that The Weinstein Company, the studio behind “Hoodwinked Too!”, was being sued over the distribution problems with the film. I was even thinking of contacting Harvey Weinstein to find out what was going to happen.
Well, just when all seemed lost, the studio, fresh off it’s SAG Award win for Best Ensamble Cast for “The King’s Speech”, has announced that “Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil” will FINALLY be coming out on April 29.
This is great news, but I still have three questions:
1) When will we see a trailer?
2) Will Burger King re-release the toys?
3) Will the movie REALLY come out on April 29?
Considering everything that’s happened so far, I guess we can only hope for the best.
