I had so much fun appearing on Today this past Sunday. I got to meet and work with some great people and do some amazing things.
It all started when I got off the train on Saturday afternoon. There was a limo waiting to take my father and I to the hotel. And not just any hotel, but The Essex House, one of the nicest hotels in NYC.
After dinner I did what I always like to do when I have a free night – see a movie! We went to the AMC 25 in Times Square and saw “Just Wright”, with Queen Latifah and Common. It’s about love and basketball. Good story, nice performances. Overall, a very entertaining film. If you’re looking for something other than a blockbuster, check-out “Just Wright”.
The next morning was BIG. I woke up at 6am, a limo picked us up at 7:15 and we were at the NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza by 7:30. After a brief stay in the Green Room I was taken upstairs to shoot a tease. They were originally going to do my segment in the same studio, but the floor manager decided, since the weather was beautiful and there was a big crowd in the plaza, to do the interview outside.
Jenna Wolfe and I sat in our chairs and chatted for several minutes. I got her laughing a lot (see photo). Then…the countdown…
5…4…3…2…1…
I honestly think the segment went great. We were only supposed to go 2:45, but I found out afterwards that the producer let us go longer (they bumped the next guest) because they thought the interview was going so well. After the segment ended fans asked for my autograph and I posed for dozens of photos. I also got to meet Lester Holt and I was able to interview him and Jenna. You’ll be seeing those interview here on the site in the near future.
On the way back to our hotel and a fantastic brunch I thought I saw Kirstie Alley walking toward us on the street. Turns out it wasn’t her, but a really good look-alike.
Hey, you can’t have everything!
