For months ABC has been promoting their new Disney Christmas Special: “Prep and Landing.” It was supposed to air this Tuesday night, right after “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. But now that’s not going to happen.
President Obama has decided to address the nation Tuesday night, and so ABC has decided to air the speech and preempt the two holiday shows.
This is a terrible decision. There are plenty of other networks where people could see the President’s speech on Afghanistan. Kids won’t be watching the President. Kids would rather be watching the Christmas shows.
I’m not saying Mr. Obama shouldn’t make a speech or that what’s going on in Afghanistan isn’t important. But with all the network and cable channels out there, why not allow kids to enjoy an hour of fun TV. Heck, I bet his own two children would rather see the holiday shows than their own dad on TV again. And the ratings for Charlie Brown and “Prep and Landing” would certainly be higher than for the presidential speech.
ABC says it will reschedule the two holiday shows for Dec. 8.
