Heading into the 2019 LCJ Movie Awards, Disney musical “Mary Poppins Returns” led the nominations with a record 15. The results are in – and the film has won a record-tying 8 honors at this year’s LCJ Awards ceremony, including Best Picture, Best Director (Rob Marshall) and Best Actress (Emily Blunt).
Oscar favorite Rami Malek is the Best Actor recipient for his incredible performance as Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Academy Award winners Mahershala Ali (“Green Book”) and Nicole Kidman (“Boy Erased”) receive their first LCJ Awards in the Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress categories, respectively.
“A Star Is Born”, nominated in 10 categories, has won 2 – including Best Drama. A duo of trophies have also been given to The Coen Brothers’ “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”, Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One” and the animated fantasy “Mirai”.
