You would think that “Winnie the Pooh” would be released on DVD for the holidays and not for Halloween. But that’s exactly what’s going to happen. The animated adventure will hit stores on October 25th, one week before Disney’s other animated hit from the Summer “Cars 2” comes out.
I thought Disney would save “Pooh” until December so parents could use it as a Christmas present. Now if parents still want their little ones to open “Pooh” under the tree, they’ll have to hold onto it for exactly two months.
Now with “Pooh” and “Cars 2” being released back-to-back, Disney won’t have anything to market for Christmastime. Maybe they’re saving “The Help” for then, but no six year old will want that. And “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” is being released exactly one week before “Pooh” on Oct. 18. I can understand that because Pirates and Halloween go together nicely.
In other news: do we really need to “Step Up” one more time? Apparently so. Summit Entertainment has announced that “Step Up 4” will hit theaters August 10th, 2012. The previous enstallment in the franchise (last year’s “Step Up 3D”) made the least amount of money in the series (only $42M). This is likely because no one wanted to pay the extra money to see it. There is no word yet if “SU4” will be in 3D or (heaven forbid) 4D.
