“Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” picks-up where the second “Pirates” movie ended. They shot this film at the same time as “Dead Man’s Chest”, so all of the characters look the same.
“Pirates 3” begins with Jack Sparrow’s crew on a quest to rescue their captain from Davy Jones’ locker. Meantime, the other two main characters – Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann – are trying to save their fathers and maybe get together. Or maybe not.
The plot of “Pirates 3” is pretty confusing at times and the movie is nearly three hours long. Way too long. The best performances come from Johnny Depp, of course, Geoffrey Rusch as Captain Barbosa and the monkeys and talking parrot. The special effects, especially the battle scenes, are great. Best of the series.
“At World’s End” is rated PG-13 (not “ARRRRR” as you might expect). There’s a lot of shooting, stabbing and killing, but that’s what pirates do!
On The Official Kid Critic Report Card, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” gets a B. It’s not as good as the first two, but it does wrap-up the trilogy in style.
