Disney Channel’s “Phineas and Ferb” is coming to movie theaters! Although the show has only been on the air since 2008, Disney feels confident enough (in terms of ratings and popularity) that they’re ready to make a full-length feature of the show.
“P and F” has already had a couple hour-long specials, and is set to air a TV movie this summer. The big-screen version is still in the early stages of development. What surprises me most is the talk that the film could end-up being a live-action/animation combo, similar to the upcoming “The Smurfs”, where the smurfs are CGI, and the villain Gargamel is a real person (Hank Azaria).
I can’t picture any of the characters looking any different than they are right now. We’ll have to see what happens if the “Phineas and Ferb” movie becomes a reality.
In other news, the Jim Carrey comedy “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” has been moved up from August 12, to June 17. This should mean that 20th Century Fox is happy with what they’re seeing, and they expect the film to do much better at the box office during the popular Summer Movie Season, than if they kept it for August, which is when the studios normally dump their not-so-hot releases.
And it’s great for fans of the classic children’s book, who will now get to see the movie two months sooner than expected.
