As a proud member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, I’m pretty excited with the news that the 2015 and 2016 Critics’ Choice Movie and TV Awards have a new home. In fact – TWO new homes! The Movie Awards show – The 20th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards – will air live on Thursday, January 15th, 2015 on A&E. And the event, for the first time, will take place at the historic Hollywood Palladium.
Most recently the CCMAs aired on The CW and were held at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. The move to A&E, which reaches 96 million homes nationwide, is a nice step-up in class – a “perfect home” for the show according to BFCA/BTJA President Joey Berlin. A&E Executive VP and GM David McKillop says both shows will be “key highlights of the Movie and TV awards seasons for A&E viewers”.
With Screener Season has already here, I’m completely pumped-up about the changes and look forward to increased promotion for the telecast, including during such A&E hit shows as “Duck Dynasty”, “Bates Motel”, and “Wahlburgers”. And attending the event once again is going to be thrilling. The Palladium is an entertainment landmark, hosting performers from Frank Sinatra to Jay Z, and also being the location for several memorable films, including “Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip” and “The Blues Brothers”.
So, mark your calendars now…and I’ve got some travel plans to make!
