HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!
It’s time for my annual list of the best movies of the year. Choosing 10 was very difficult (as you can see, since I ended-up going with 11):
10. (tie) “The Social Network” / “True Grit”
“The Social Network” features great performances, a nice style of storytelling, and is interesting for Facebook fans. “True Grit” has some Oscar-worthy performances, sharp dialogue and exciting action.
9. “Knight and Day”
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz have nice chemistry, many fun action scenes, and I had a smile on my face the whole way through. Most enjoyable action film of the year.
8. “Shrek Forever After”
The best in the series since the original. Terrific animation and clever script. The big green ogre goes out in style.
7. “Extraordinary Measures”
An overlooked, yet well-made drama, with excellent performances by Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford. Very emotional and uplifting.
6. “Tangled”
One of the best Disney Princess movies of all-time. Fantastic animation, and catchy musical numbers.
5. “Secretariat”
Diane Lane deserves a Best Actress Oscar nomination, in this inspirational story with characters you really care about. My heart was beating hard through the horse races scenes. Best sports movie of the year (over “The Fighter”).
4. “How to Train Your Dragon”
Spectacular animation, and surprisingly dramatic. The best of a great batch of Dreamworks films this year.
3. “Despicable Me”
One of the most original animated films ever made, with excellent voices, classic characters, and a lot of heart.
2. “Morning Glory”
Very funny and authentic morning news comedy. All-Star cast is superb, and one of the best scripts of the year. Unfortunately, mostly ignored by audiences.
1. “Toy Story 3”
Hands-down the best movie of 2010. “TS3” has everything a great film should have – action, laughs, emotion, characters you care for, and a perfect story, right to the final scene.
