I recently highlighted game shows in a Winter TV Preview piece. But what else should we be looking forward to over the next few months?
“STREETS OF DREAMS WITH MARCUS LEMONIS”
The host of “The Profit” goes to five of the biggest moneymaking streets around the country and dives into some unique businesses. I’ve screened the first episode (which airs Tue Dec. 29 at 10pm on CNBC). It focusses on NYC’s Diamond District. Fascinating.
A TRIO OF NETWORK SITCOMS
“Call Me Kat” starring Mayim Bialik debuts Sunday Jan. 3 at 8pm on FOX before it moves to its regular night and time: Thursday Jan. 7 at 9pm. NBC has “Mr. Mayor” with Ted Danson starting Thursday Jan. 7 at 8pm. And on ABC, Kyra Sedgwick headlines “Call Your Mother”, which premieres Wednesday Jan. 13 at 9:30pm.
“THE GREAT NORTH”
From the makers of “Bob’s Burgers” comes this new animated comedy series. FOX is showing the premiere on Sunday Jan. 3 at 8:30pm. “TGN” then returns with more new episodes Sunday Feb. 14 at 8:30pm.
AWARDS SHOWS & NOMINATION CEREMONIES
The Critics Choice Super Awards, featuring winners in Animation and Action categories, will kick off the 2021 awards season Sunday Jan. 10 at 8pm on The CW. The Grammy Awards are three weeks later, Sunday Jan. 31 at 8pm on CBS. And later that week (Wed Feb. 3), NBC will broadcast the Golden Globe Awards nominations at 8am. The SAG Awards nominations are the next day (Thu Feb. 4, likely at 10amET) on TBS and TNT.
“WANDAVISION”
The highly anticipated Marvel series will be the next Disney+ social media sensation. It all gets underway on Friday Jan. 15.
“GO, DOG. GO!”
DreamWorks Animation produces this new animated family series based on the P.D. Eastman book. Netflix Debut Date: Tuesday Jan. 26.
“WENDY WILLIAMS: THE MOVIE”
What you doin’ Saturday Jan. 30 at 8pm? Lifetime presents a new narrative feature film on the life and career of the popular talk show host.
“THE SNOOPY SHOW”
AppleTV+ will premiere a brand new half-hour animated program with the Peanuts gang on Friday Feb. 5. I’ve screened several episodes… can’t share my thoughts just yet… but fans young and old should definitely mark this on your calendars.
CBS 1-2 PUNCH
As of now, the Super Bowl is still on schedule for Sunday February 7th at approx. 6pm. That’s followed by the premiere of Queen Latifah’s “The Equalizer” at around 10pm.
“CLARICE”
A few nights later (Thursday Feb. 11 at 10pm), CBS is debuting the new drama “Clarice”, about the famous “Silence of the Lambs” character. It comes just three days before the 30th anniversary of the release of that Oscar winning thriller.
