In a bit of a surprise move, Pixar has announced that there will be a “Monsters, Inc. 2”. The release date is set for Nov. 16, 2012.
I liked the original, but I thought if the studio was going to do another sequel (following “Toy Story 3” and “Cars 2”) they’d pick “The Incredibles”, the most obvious choice, or even “Finding Nemo”, their all-time biggest hit. Can’t wait to hear the story for “MI2”.
Meantime, things aren’t looking great for the 3rd and final (?) “Shrek” sequel. For some reason the film is now being marketed as “Shrek: The Final Chapter”, instead of “Shrek Forever After”. Why a title change at the last minute? That can’t be a good sign.
Even worse for “Shrek 4” (I’ll now call it) are the early reviews for the premiere showing at the Tribeca Film Festival. Not very good at all. The bad buzz will certainly hurt the opening weekend box office
