Emily Blunt is a double individual Screen Actors Guild Awards film nominee this year for Lead Actress (“Mary Poppins Returns”) and Supporting Actress (“A Quiet Place”). Blunt has been nominated by the Screen Actors Guild before, for her work in “The Girl in the Train”. But she has still yet to hear her name called on Oscar morning. Could it happen once – or twice – next month?
Let’s look at the other eight actors (six women and two men) who also received two individual Screen Actors Guld Awards film nominations in the same year – and see how they translated to the Academy Awards:

Statistically, from these nine examples, it looks like Blunt has a chance of scoring at least one Oscar nomination. And it would probably be for “Poppins” over “Quiet”, even though the Lead Actress category is very competitive this year. As for her chances of winning at SAG, I think she’s got a shot for playing Poppins. Her “Quiet” role may not be strong enough to take down Amy Adams on her path to finally winning an Oscar of her own (after five previous nominations).
