Just in time for Father’s Day, here are five recent movies focused on the bonding between father and son that the whole family can enjoy watching:
“The Incredibles” – Pixar’s Oscar-winning animated action/comedy about a family of former superheroes who come out of retirement to take down an evil villain. Mr. Incredible bonds with Dash over football and saving the day.
“RV” – Robin Williams stars in this 2006 comedy about a businessman wanting to take a vacation with his wife (Cheryl Hines) and two kids in a huge, rented RV. Williams tries to impress his son (a much younger Josh Hutcherson) by teaching him how to interact with people.
“The Pursuit of Happyness” – Will Smith earned his second Oscar nomination in this true story of a man whose forced to live on the streets with his son (real-life son Jaden Smith), attempting to find a steady job. This is an emotional and powerful drama.
“Night at the Museum” – A clever and original family comedy starring Ben Stiller, about a single father who gets a job as the night watchman at the Museum of Natural History. When everything comes to life at night, his son is completely impressed.
“Fantastic Mr. Fox” – Based on the Roald Dahl book, this stop-motion animated film from Wes Anderson stars George Clooney as Mr. Fox. He’s a newspaper columnist looking to steal food from three nasty farmers. His son Ash wants to get involved in these missions, but Fox denies his presence. But once Ash gets into trouble, Mr. Fox attempts to sacrifice himself for his son. It’s a smarter version of “The Lion King”.
