Will Ferrell is replacing Robert Downey, Jr. in DreamWorks Animation’s “Oobermind”, opening next Fall. Downey most likely had to drop out because of “Iron Man 2”. Ferrell’s last animated film appearance was my second official review, 2006’s “Curious George”, as the Man with the Yellow Hat.
Also in the cast is Tina Fey from “Ponyo”, Jonah Hill from “Horton Hears a Who!” and “Night at the Museum 2” and Brad Pitt. Hopefully it will do much better than “Land of the Lost” did back in June. I’m glad Ferrell’s back to this type of genre, instead of all his adult comedies. Some did ok, but most were bombs.
Now, here are the top five films of the year so far (as of August 18th)
1. “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” $396M – Could get to $400M
2. “Up” $288M – second highest for Pixar
3. Harry Potter 6 $283M – It will beat “Up”
4. The Hangover $265M – surprise hit
5. Star Trek $255M – Nice for Paramount
