Here are some of the Family Film Flicks coming on the autumn breeze:
“Igor” (PG) John Cusack stars as the voice of a scientist’s helper who wants to become a creator instead. This animated offerring from the Weinstein Company comes out Sept. 19.
“Beverly Hills Chihuahua” (PG) They’re calling it “The Greatest Chihuahua Movie Ever.” George Lopez and Drew Barrymore do the voices of the top dogs in this live action action-comedy from Disney, due out Oct. 3.
“The Express” (PG) This latest football film is based on the true story of Ernie Davis, who was the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. Dennis Quaid stars as Davis’ coach. The movie opens Oct. 10.
Also opening Oct. 10 is “City of Ember.” This Sci-Fi/ Fantasy is based on the popular book of the same name. The story involves a group of kids who discover a lost city. Bill Murray is one of the stars.
“High School Musical 3: Senior Year.” This, of course is the 3rd enstallment to the wildly (with many, not with me) popular Disney Channel films. From the trailer it looks as if this one could be the funniest of the trilogy, and I don’t mean that in a good way. It’s out Oct. 24.
Finally, my fall pick – “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.” All the great characters and voices from 2005’s highest grossing animated film return for this sequel. The trailers have been great. But we’ve got to wait until Nov. 7 for this one to open.
It could be a great Fall at the movies. Let’s hope so.
