According to Animated Views, Nickelodeon has ordered a pilot for a “Monsters vs. Aliens” TV series. This will be the third collaboration for Nick and DreamWorks animation. “The Penguins of Madagascar” is a big hit, and “Kung Fu Panda: The Series” starts later this year.
Jeffrey Katzenberg also has announced that two new DreamWorks specials will be on NBC later this year. Besides last year’s “Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space”, there’s “Scared Shrekless” (a “Shrek” Halloween special), and a “Kung Fu Panda” Christmas special.
“Shrek the Halls” (the only other DreamWorks TV special), is very likely to be on ABC again this Christmas.
And Disney/Pixar should be celebrating. “Toy Story 3” has officially crossed the $300 Million mark in less than twenty days. A week (maybe less) from now, it will become the biggest Disney/Pixar film of all-time, and the biggest film of the year.
I saw it again Saturday night, and it’s just as good the second time.
