It was one of the worst animated movies of 2008. No wonder they waited so long to put it out on DVD.
“Delgo” is a computer-generated fantasy about a teenage boy, named Delgo, who lives on a planet where the two groups of creatures who live there are fighting each other. He and a Princess from the enemy side fall in love, and when she gets captured, he has to save her and stop the two sides from killing each other.
There are so many problems with “Delgo” I’m not sure where to start: Both groups of characters, the “Nohrin” and the “Lockni”, are weird looking. One looks like they’re amphibians, the other cavemen, but without the hair. Both are pretty creepy.
The story is confusing at times, especially for younger viewers, and not very interesting.
And the movie isn’t funny at all, even though there are some goofy characters who try to add humor. None of it works.
There is a great voice cast: Freddie Prinze, Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt play Delgo and the Princess. Val Kilmer, Burt Reynolds, Kelly Ripa and Chris Kattan also lend their voices, but nobody stands out.
“Delgo” is rated PG. There’s a lot of fantasy violence, but that’s not the reason you shouldn’t go. Skip it simply because it isn’t any good.
On The Official Kid Critic Report Card, “Delgo” gets a D.
It took over 6-years for Fathom Studios, a new studio in Atlanta, Georgia, to make this movie. It’s too bad that so many people wasted so much time on such a bad film. No reason to buy or rent.
