Angelina Jolie won an Oscar in 2000 for “Girl, Interrupted”. Some may call an Academy Award win the highlight or peak of their career. But Jolie was just getting started. She followed it up with two successful “Lara Craft” movies and in 2004 lent her voice to DreamWorks Oscar nominated “Shark Tale”.
She returned to DreamWorks to voice Tigress in the first of three “Kung Fu Panda” movies. It was released at the beginning of June 2008. At the end of the month, her action film “Wanted” opened.
Another voice role came recently in Disney’s “The One and Only Ivan”. And it wasn’t her first time working with the Mouse House. She had already portrayed the (sorta) villainess Maleficent in two features (released in 2014 & ’19). The makeup work on both: fantastic.
Some of Jolie’s other career highlights include working with ex Brad Pitt on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “By the Sea”. She was up for an Oscar for “Changeling” and infamously received a Golden Globe nomination for “The Tourist” with Johnny Depp. And she played the title role in 2010’s action thriller “Salt”, which was filmed near me in Albany, NY.
This coming Friday May 14th, Jolie stars in “Those Who Wish Me Dead”, the latest film from Taylor Sheridan. He wrote “Sicario” and “Hell or High Water”, directed the brilliant, underrated “Wind River” and is the mastermind behind the hit Kevin Costner series “Yellowstone”. Expectations are high.
