The 37th Annual Annie Awards will be handed-out on Feb. 6. The winner for Best Animated Feature will come from this group: “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”, “Coraline”, “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, “The Princess and the Frog”, “The Secret of Kells” and “Up”. I haven’t seen “The Secret of Kells”, but I think “Up” has to be the favorite.
Past Disney/Pixar winners include “Cars” and Ratatouille”, but “Kung Fu Panda” pulled the upset last year, knocking-off “Wall-E”, which most people thought was going to win.
As for other categories: “Open Season 2” is nominated for Best Home Entertainment Production. It’s up against “SpongeBob vs. The Big One”. Also, “Merry Madagascar”, “Prep and Landing” and “The Simpsons” all go head-to-head for Best Animated Television Production.
“Prep and Landing”, by the way, received 9 nominations. We’ll all finally get to see it Tuesday night, one week after it was postponed by the President.
