After a year of the “Ben and Ben Show”, “At the Movies”, the best movie reviews show on TV, is changing hosts.
Out are Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz and in are Michael Phillips and A.O. Scott. You may remember that both Phillips and Scott were fill-in critics on the show a few years ago, when then co-host Roger Ebert got sick, and then Phillips became the permanent co-host with Richard Roeper when it was determined that Roger wasn’t coming back to the show.
Disney decided to go a different route last year and Roeper and Phillips left the show. I spoke with Michael right after that happened and he told me he was hoping to get back on TV someday. I’m very happy that he and A.O. (who goes by the name Tony) are coming back. Nothing against the two Bens, but the show just wasn’t as good.
The new season of “At the Movies” begins on Sept. 5 (check your local listings for day and time).
