Amy Adams returns as Lois Lane in this weekend’s highly-anticipated superhero blockbuster “Justice League”. These are my 5 favorite performances from the 5-time Oscar nominee:
Best Comedic Performance: GISELLE, “ENCHANTED” (2007)
Arguably her breakthrough role to the masses, Adams re-wrote the definition of a Disney princess with her complex, fantastic work.
Best Supporting Performance: SISTER JAMES, “DOUBT” (2008)
Adams held her own against Meryl Streep in this Catholic school drama based on the play of the same name. Adams would co-star with Streep again the following year in “Julie & Julia”, though they never shared a scene together.
Most Underrated Performance: MICKEY, “TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE” (2012)
This 2012 baseball drama wasn’t a home run with critics or audiences. I had several issues with it… outside of the core father-daughter story. Adams’ scenes with Clint Eastwood (who played her dad) had some real, raw emotion to them.
Performance That Made the Movie Work: MARGARET KEANE, “BIG EYES” (2014)
Tim Burton’s drama on the iconic painter (and her vicious husband) was a mixed bag. Though the role restrained her, Adams delivered the goods and kept you interested in how the Keane saga played-out.
Overall Best Performance: SYDNEY PROSSER, “AMERICAN HUSTLE” (2013)
Adams re-teamed with “The Fighter” director David O. Russell for this 70s crime dramedy. She wore stylish dresses and sunk her teeth into the dynamic role of Sydney, proving to be an undeniable on-screen force.
