The 27th Annual SAG Awards ceremony is a week away. It’s only for an hour, will be pre-taped, air on Easter Sunday at 9pmET (on TBS & TNT) and will NOT have a host or Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. But let’s look at the positives: the show will still honor some incredible performances from the past 14 months in cinema. Here’s how I break down all six movie categories:
Best Stunt Ensemble
My Prediction: “Da 5 Bloods”
The Upset: “Mulan”
Could Also Win: “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “Wonder Woman 1984”
Longshot: “News of the World”
Best Supporting Actor
My Prediction: Daniel Kaluuya, “Judas and the Black Messiah”
The Upset: Sacha Baron Cohen, “The Trial of the Chicago 7”
Could Also Win: Leslie Odom, Jr., “One Night in Miami”
Longshot: Chadwick Boseman, “Da 5 Bloods”
All-Time Stunning Victory: Jared Leto, “The Little Things”
Best Supporting Actress
My Prediction: Yuh-jung Youn, “Minari”
The Upset: Glenn Close, “Hillbilly Elegy”
Could Also Win: Maria Bakalova, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”
Longshot: Olivia Colman, “The Father”
All-Time Stunning Victory: Helena Zengel, “News of the World”
Best Actor
My Prediction: Chadwick Boseman, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”
The Upset: Riz Ahmed, “Sound of Metal”
Could Also Win: Anthony Hopkins, “The Father” and Steven Yeun, “Minari”
Longshot: Gary Oldman, “Mank”
Best Actress
My Prediction: Carey Mulligan, “Promising Young Woman”
The Upset: Frances McDormand, “Nomadland”
Could Also Win: Viola Davis, “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”
Longshot: Vanessa Kirby, “Pieces of a Woman”
All-Time Stunning Victory: Amy Adams, “Hillbilly Elegy”
Best Acting Ensemble
My Prediction: “The Trial of the Chicago 7”
