The 27th Annual Woodstock Film Festival runs Oct. 14 through Oct. 18 and will once again showcase many highly anticipated, awards contending movies. On opening night it’s “The Liberation” starring husband and wife Tracy Letts and Carrie Coon, drama “Josephine” with Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan, and Jesse Eisenberg’s latest — “The Debut”, with Julianne Moore in the role that might win her a second Best Actress Academy Award. Would love to see co-star Paul Giamatti finally win an Oscar too.
The 2026 Woodstock Film Festival has more than half-dozen locations with screenings over the five days. Oct. 15 includes showings of adult animated feature “TANGLES”, “CODA” director Sian Heder’s follow-up “Being Heumann”, and Amanda Seyfried in “The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd”. Seyfried attended Woodstock last year for a post-screening Q&A of “The Testament of Ann Lee”, with her performance earning Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards nominations.
Oct. 16 has Mike Leigh’s “Tender Loving Care”, Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!” with Pedro Pascal, and acclaimed A24 drama “Club Kid” from Jordan Firstman. Oct. 17 screenings include the Billie Jean King documentary “Give Me the Ball!” ahead of its ESPN debut on Nov. 22 (I’ve already seen it — it’s fantastic) and “The Man I Love” with Oscar winner Rami Malek. That night there will be showings of Peter Farrelly’s making of a classic “I Play Rocky”, “Wicker” with Olivia Colman, and “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York” starring John Turturro.
And on Oct. 18 it’s “Fatherland” with Sandra Huller, the crime drama “Paper Tiger” (with a “Marriage Story” reunion of Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson), John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell in Martin McDonagh’s new dramedy “Wild Horse Nine”, and the closing night selection — Danny Boyle’s “INK”.
