ShortsTV will once again showcase the Oscar Nominated Animated Short Films in theaters nationwide. The The 2024 nominees hitting the big screen starting February 16th are “Letter to a Pig”, “Ninety-Five Senses”, “Our Uniform”, “Pachyderme” and “WAR IS OVER! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko”.
This is a serious — and seriously good — group of shorts. The subject matter for several of them is a little mature and intense for kids, so I wouldn’t recommend anyone under the age of 12 attending this year’s presentation. But for anyone 12+, especially animation fans, you’re sure to respect and appreciate what went into these shorts. And they’ll likely leave a lasting impression.
Ahead of the Oscar nominations announcement on Jan. 23, I once again interviewed the makers of all 15 shortlisted shorts in this category for AnimationScoop.com, including the five nominees. If you’d like to learn how these shorts were brought to life, from the directors themselves, check out these Animation Scoop Q&As:
“Letter to a Pig” Q&A with director Tal Kantor
“Ninety-Five Senses” Q&A with directors Jared and Jerusha Hess
“Our Uniform” Q&A with director Yegane Moghaddam
“Pachyderme” Q&A with director Stephanie Clement
“WAR IS OVER! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko” Q&A with director Dave Mullins
