“Blade Runner 2049”, “Dunkirk” and “Darkest Hour” dominate technical categories. “Baby Driver” also gets 3. “Victoria & Abdul” with 2 and “Wonder” is a Makeup & Hairstyling nominee.
The Sound Editing & Sound Mixing nominees are identical – rare.
No Hong Chau or Holly Hunter in Supporting Actress – Lesley Manville (“Phantom Thread”) is the surprise nominee.
No Armie Hammer or Michael Stuhlbarg (“Call Me by Your Name”) in Supporting Actor.
No “In the Fade” in Foreign-Language Film.
“Jane” snubbed in Best Documentary Feature category.
“Ferdinand”, “The Boss Baby” in Animated Feature.
“Logan” is up for Best Adapted Screenplay. “Molly’s Game” is a fellow nominee, though no Jessica Chastain in Lead Actress.
Denzel Washington (“Roman J. Israel, Esq.”) is a surprise Best Actor nominee. Tom Hanks snubbed for “The Post”. And James Franco (“The Disaster Artist”) also didn’t get in the category.
Paul Thomas Anderson is a big Best Director surprise for “Phantom Thread”. Martin McDonagh (“Three Billboards”) is not in the category.
“The Post”‘s only nominations are for Best Picture and Best Actress – Meryl Streep.
