Back from vacation in Florida (more on that in my next blog entry).
But first, it’s time for my list of the Worst Films of 2007.
We begin at #5 with “Bridge to Terabithia.” This story of two kids who discover a land filled with wild creatures is based on a popular book of the same name. I haven’t read the book yet, but it’s gotta be better than this movie, which is simply too boring.
At #4, “The Game Plan.” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars as a pro football player who learns he has a daughter. “The Game Plan” made a lot of money at the box office, but it isn’t very funny, the acting is sub-par and “The Rock” actually sings in one scene. Enough said.
The animated “Happily N’Ever After” is #3. The plot involves an evil witch who wants to change the happy endings to all the famous fairy tales. I wish she had changed the beginning, middle and end of this film. No laughs and bad animation. Heck, the characters mouths don’t even match-up with what they’re saying. A major disappointment and the worst animated film of the year.
At #2, “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.” It was advertised as a fun kids movie. However, it’s not fun and since much of the story is about the death of the title character it’s not really for kids either. Only a Kermit the Frog cameo kept “Mr. Magorium” from being #1.
Instead, that honor goes to “The Comebacks.” This parody of sports movies is a disaster from start to finish because it simply isn’t funny. The actors do their best but the jokes just don’t work. And there’s too much adult humor to make it suitable for kids. “The Comebacks” comes out on DVD in late January, but I’m telling you this only so you can be prepared to avoid renting it or buying it.
“The Comebacks” – the worst film of 2007. Let’s hope even the bad movies in 2008 aren’t as much of a stinker as this one.
