“The Shaggy Dog” is a very funny remake of the 1959 Disney movie. This time the special sheep dog first lives in China and is over three hundred years old. He is brought to America and ends up in a laboratory. When he escapes and bites a lawyer named Dave Douglas, who’s played by Tim Allen, the fun begins. Dave then turns into a sheep dog, though he doesn’t realize it right away. He turns back into a human from time to time but still acts like a dog.
“The Shaggy Dog” includes some very funny scenes and good lines, including when Tim Allen, when he’s a dog, jumping in the air and yelling “To Infinity and Beyond”, like in the Toy Story movies.
One scene that wasn’t necessary is when Dave crashes into an old lady using a walker and knocks her into a tree. Hey. I like old people!
“The Shaggy Dog” is rated PG. There are no scary moments so it’s good for all ages, even though Tim Allen is naked at times you don’t see anything bad.
Also in the cast are Robert Downey, Jr., who plays the villian and Spencer Breslin, who plays Tim Allen’s son (he also worked with Allen in “The Santa Clause 2).
On The Official Kid Critic Report Card, “The Shaggy Dog” gets a B.
