“War for the Planet of the Apes” is the third and final chapter in actor Andy Serkis’ modern “Apes” trilogy. The two previous installments, “Rise” (2011) and “Dawn” (2014), were both nominated for the Best Visual Effects Academy Award. Serkis has also played Gollum in the “Lord of the Rings” films and King Kong in the 2005 version.
