The 2009 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards were held on Saturday.
“Witch Mountain’s” Dwayne Johnson hosted, and he did an O.K. job. There were some problems with the show (technical, stunts) and what did Shia LeBeouf say before he presented that got him edited?
Favorite Movie Actor went to Will Smith for “Hancock”, while Favorite Movie Actress honors went to Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical 3). “HSM3” also won for Favorite Movie.
I was a bit surprised with “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” winning for Favorite Animated Movie. Yes, the original took home the Orange Blimp, but I had my money on either “Bolt” or “Kung Fu Panda.” “KFP”‘s Jack Black, a Kid’s Choice fave, took the honors for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie.
Overall, a pretty good show. A lot of slime, which is always good.
And now we can look ahead to the next awards season and we’ll have to wait longer than usual for the 2009 Academy Awards. The Oscars will be handed-out in March next year (March 7th to be exact) for the first time since 2004. ABC doesn’t want to go head-to-head in February with the Winter Olympics.
The Oscar nominations will be announced on February 2nd.
