Jack Black will be hosting this year’s Kids’ Choice Awards on Nickelodeon. Black previously hosted the event back in 2006. The producers of the show say they wanted Black back because kids love him and he’s got great spirit.
Here are some of the movie-related categories and nominees:
Favorite Movie: “Alvin and the Chipmunks”, “Are We Done Yet?”, “Pirates 3: At World’s End”, “Transformers”
“Are We Done Yet?” is a surprise. For me, “Fred Claus” would have been a better choice. The favorite has to be “Pirates 3” since “Pirates 2” won last year, but “Alvin” could surprise.
Favorite Animated Movie: “Bee Movie”, “Ratatouille”, “Shrek the Third”, “The Simpsons Movie”
“Ratatouille” should win, but since this is a kids award there’s a chance that “Shrek” could steal it, especially since all three major stars – Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, are nominated in the category of favorite voice from an animated movie.
My biggest shocker is that Emma Roberts didn’t get a nomination for favorite female moive star for her role in “Nancy Drew” which is a NICKELODEON MOVIE! And it’s coming-out on DVD in March. The next time someone writes that these awards are simply a way for Nickelodeon to promote it’s own productions remind them of that.
Voting for the 2008 Kids’ Choice Awards begins on Mar. 3. The show is set for Mar. 29 8:00-9:30(ET).
