This 2006 “Charlotte’s Web” is the latest movie version of the classic children’s book by E.B. White.
In the story (which most everyone knows by now), A girl named Fern (played by Dalota Fanning) adopts a baby pig, names him Wilbur, and brings him to her Uncle Homer’s barn to live. At his new home Wilbur meets a lot of different animals. But the most important one is Charlotte the Spider, who helps keep Wilbur from becomming Christmas dinner.
Julia Roberts does the voice of Charlotte. In fact there’s a star-studded cast of celebrity voices including Robert Redford, Oprah Winfrey and Reba McIntire.
“Charlotte’s Web” is very funny at times and also quite sad. There are plenty of great characters and the CGI work is very good linking-up the mouths of the animals with their voices.
Here’s some trivia: It took 50 pigs to play the role of Wilbur.
“Charlotte’s Web” is rated G. It’s great for all ages. Those who have read the book will love this adaption. And those who never enjoyed the story until now will eat it up (sorry, Wilbur).
On The Official Kid Critic Report Card, “Charlotte’s Web” gets a B! It makes a great addition to your home family movie library.
