Unlike last year, when “La La Land” earned a record-breaking 7 Golden Globes, there will not be a dominant film at this year’s 75th awards, hosted by Seth Meyers. The honors will be spread around, though some films with multiple nominations (including “The Post” with 6 and “Call Me by Your Name”, “Dunkirk” and “The Greatest Showman” with 3 each) will get completely shut out. Here are my predictions:
Best Picture: Drama – “The Shape of Water”
Best Actor: Drama – Gary Oldman, “Darkest Hour”
Best Actress: Drama – Sally Hawkins, “The Shape of Water”
Best Picture: Comedy or Musical – “Get Out”
Best Actor: Comedy or Musical – James Franco, “The Disaster Artist”
Best Actress: Comedy or Musical – Saoirse Ronan, “Lady Bird”
Best Supporting Actor – Christopher Plummer, “All the Money in the World”
Best Supporting Actress – Allison Janney, “I, Tonya”
Best Director – Guillermo del Toro, “The Shape of Water”
Best Screenplay – Martin McDonagh, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
Best Animated Feature – “Coco”
Best Foreign-Language Film – “In the Fade”
Best Original Score – “Phantom Thread”
Best Original Song – “Mighty River”, “Mudbound”
